A set of five long natural branch perches cut from our sustainably managed woodland on the North Downs in Surrey.

These branches retain their natural bark, bends, knots and variations in diameter, providing birds with a much more varied perching and climbing surface than smooth, uniformly sized manufactured dowels.

Choose the branch diameter most appropriate for your birds when ordering.

🌳 Mixed Bird-Suitable Woods

Depending on seasonal availability, your bundle will contain a selection of:

• Hazel
• Beech
• Sycamore

Each species has its own bark colour, texture and natural character, creating a more interesting mixture of perching surfaces within your cage or aviary.

Choose the Right Diameter

We offer different diameter options so you can select branches suitable for the size of your birds.

Smaller diameters are suitable for birds such as Budgies and Canaries, while larger diameters can be selected for Cockatiels, Parrots and other larger birds.

Birds vary considerably in size, so please choose the diameter appropriate for your individual birds rather than relying solely on species.

🌿 Natural Perches for Healthy Feet

Natural tree branches provide an irregular surface with bark texture and variations in thickness.

The bends, knots and changing diameters encourage birds to use different grips and foot positions, helping to keep their feet healthy and naturally exercised.

The 90cm length also makes these branches particularly useful for larger cages, flights and aviaries, or they can be cut down at home to create several shorter perches.

Natural & Untreated

Our branches are supplied in their natural state and have not been washed, sterilised, varnished or chemically treated.

We deliberately leave them this way because many customers want completely natural woodland branches for their birds.

Natural moss or lichen may occasionally be present. If you prefer to clean the branches before use, they can be washed with warm water and allowed to dry thoroughly before installation.

The branches may be fresh or partially seasoned and will continue to dry naturally. Good ventilation is recommended.

Please Note

These are genuine woodland branches rather than manufactured wooden dowels. Every bundle will therefore vary in bark colour, shape, straightness, knots and exact diameter.

Cage brackets and fixing clips are NOT included. Please ensure the branches are securely installed before allowing your birds to use them.

🌳 From Our Surrey Woodland

Our branches are harvested in small quantities through coppicing, pruning and thinning as part of the ongoing management of our family woodland.

No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.

Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
