A large freestanding bird perch handmade from natural branches and timber grown in our sustainably managed woodland on the North Downs in Surrey.

At approximately 130cm / 4ft tall, this substantial T-shaped perch creates a freestanding place for parrots and other suitable birds to perch, train, interact and spend time outside their cage.

Each stand is handmade using real woodland branches, retaining the natural bark, knots, bends and variations in diameter that give birds a more varied surface than a smooth manufactured dowel.

🌳 Natural Woodland Branches

We use suitable natural woods including Hazel, Sycamore, Sweet Chestnut and Beech, depending on seasonal availability.

The branches are deliberately selected for their natural character rather than perfect uniformity. Expect bark texture, knots, bends, forks and variations in diameter.

These irregular natural surfaces provide birds with different places to grip and explore and help avoid the completely uniform footing created by smooth manufactured perches.

Rustic Handmade Construction

This is intentionally a rustic woodland product, not a piece of finely finished furniture.

Each stand is individually handmade from natural timber, so saw marks, bark variations, knots, irregular shapes and other natural characteristics should be expected. No two stands will look exactly alike.

The stand comprises:

• A substantial natural log base
• A strong central wooden upright
• A large natural T-shaped perching branch

🔧 Simple Home Assembly

The stand is supplied in kit form to make transportation practical and is designed to be easily screwed together at home.

A Phillips screwdriver is required for assembly.

Because of the size and weight of the components, your order may be dispatched in two separate parcels. These can occasionally travel separately through the delivery network and may not arrive at exactly the same time.

Natural, Untreated Wood

The wood has not been varnished or chemically treated and is supplied in its natural state.

We do not routinely sterilise our natural branches. Bark, natural markings and occasional traces of lichen or moss may therefore be present.

As the timber is fresh or partially seasoned, it will continue to dry naturally after purchase. Keep the stand in a reasonably dry, well-ventilated environment.

Please Note

Because every stand is made from real woodland branches and logs, the product you receive will differ from the photographs. Shape, bark, colour, knots, bends and exact dimensions will naturally vary.

We recommend checking the stand and all fittings regularly as part of normal bird equipment maintenance, particularly if your bird enjoys chewing wood.

🌿 Handmade at Hanging Wood

Our branches and timber are harvested in small quantities through coppicing, pruning and thinning as part of the ongoing management of our family woodland.

No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.

Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
