🌿 Natural Hazel Branch for Macramé, Weaving & Hanging Displays
A beautiful, relatively straight English Hazel branch, cut from our sustainably managed woodland on the North Downs in Surrey.
With its natural bark retained, this branch makes an attractive alternative to a manufactured wooden dowel and is particularly suited to macramé, weaving, tapestries and natural hanging displays.
Each branch is supplied with 4 metres of natural jute string.
Choose Your Length
Available in two sizes from the product options:
Branches are approximately 2–3cm in diameter.
🧶 Ideal For
Hazel is one of our favourite woods for long hanging rails because it naturally produces relatively straight, slender stems with wonderfully characterful bark.
The bark typically has warm light-brown colouring with silver overtones, subtle markings and natural variations along the length of the branch.
Unlike a factory-made dowel, each branch retains small bends, knots and changes in diameter that reveal how the wood naturally grew.
🪵 For Macramé & Weaving
The substantial 2–3cm diameter provides a strong natural support for larger macramé and weaving projects.
The natural bark also gives the finished piece a completely different appearance from a plain wooden dowel – particularly attractive for botanical, bohemian, rustic and woodland-inspired designs.
The branches can also be used for projects requiring weaving tension, although the appropriate tension will depend on the individual branch and your particular project.
Each branch comes with 4 metres of natural jute string, which can be used to suspend the branch or incorporated into your project.
Wall or ceiling hooks and other fixing hardware are not included.
🌳 Natural & Untreated
Our Hazel is supplied with its natural bark and has not been varnished or chemically treated.
Branches may be fresh or partially seasoned and will continue to dry naturally. Slight movement, shrinkage or fine checking can occur as genuine wood seasons.
You will receive a Hazel branch similar to those shown in the photographs, but every branch is naturally different.
Expect individual variations in bark colour, knots, markings, diameter and straightness.
Macramé, textiles, clothes, flowers and other decorations shown in the photographs are not included.
🌿 From Our Surrey Woodland
Our Hazel is harvested in small quantities through coppicing and ongoing woodland management. Coppicing encourages Hazel to regenerate naturally and produce new stems.
No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.
Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
Bring the character of real woodland into your home with our handmade and natural branch rails, hangers and displays, using wood grown in our own Surrey woodland.
