Compost Loo with Urine Separator

Our compost loo is a simple, robust, and practical toilet system designed for off-grid and self-sufficient living. Built in our woodland workshop, it’s ideal for cabins, workshops, allotments, or remote sites — wherever you need a straightforward, low-maintenance solution.

Each unit comes fully assembled and ready to use, including:

• 1 × urine separator (with outlet for soakaway connection)
• 1 × 30L solids container
• 1 × solid wooden toilet seat

Approximate dimensions: 60cm wide × 60cm deep × 55cm high

All you need to add is sawdust or wood shavings — and you’re ready to go. The solids container is easily removable for composting, and the urine separator can be drained directly to a soakaway or external container.

This is the same compost loo design we use at Hanging Wood, as part of our fully off-grid woodland farm. It’s simple, reliable, and built to work in real conditions.
