🌲 200g Fresh Scots Pine Needles – Pinus sylvestris

Fresh Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) needles, hand collected to order from our woodland on the North Downs in Surrey.

The needles are supplied still attached to the fresh branch tips rather than stripped from the stems. We find this helps them retain their freshness during storage and delivery.

Each order contains approximately 200g of fresh Pine sprig tips, equivalent to approximately 4 litres by loose volume.

🌿 Uses

Fresh Scots Pine needles can be used for:

Making Pine Needle Tea

Remove the needles from the branch tips and wash them thoroughly before use.

Chop a small handful of clean needles into shorter pieces and place them in a cup or teapot. Pour over freshly boiled water and allow them to steep for approximately 5–10 minutes, then strain before drinking.

The quantity and steeping time can be adjusted according to taste.

Correct identification is important when preparing any wild plant for consumption. These needles are specifically Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris).

🌲 Fresh, Natural & Untreated

Our Pine needles have not been washed, sterilised or chemically treated.

You may notice a small amount of sticky brown resin around the base of the needles or branch tips. This is a normal natural feature of fresh Pine.

Please wash the needles thoroughly before culinary use.

Storage

For short-term storage, the sprigs can be kept in their brown paper bag in a cool, dark place.

To retain freshness for longer, they can be stored in the salad drawer of the refrigerator.

They can also be placed in a freezer bag and frozen for longer-term storage.

We do not recommend keeping fresh needles for extended periods in a sealed airtight container at room temperature, as retained moisture can encourage mould growth.

This is a freshly gathered seasonal product. Needle length, colour, branch-tip size and resin content will naturally vary throughout the year.

No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.
