🌿 8L Fresh Living Green Woodland Moss – 2 Bags
A generous 8 litres of fresh, living woodland moss, hand collected to order from our sustainably managed woodland on the North Downs in Surrey.
This is a naturally clump-forming woodland moss, ideal for creating a beautiful living green surface around plants and spring bulbs. It is particularly attractive around Daffodils, Hyacinths and other bulbs, where the fresh green moss creates a wonderfully natural woodland appearance.
Please note: this is NOT Sphagnum moss.

🌱 Ideal For
Perfect Around Spring Bulbs
This moss works particularly well on top of the soil around potted bulbs and plants, rather than as a traditional hanging-basket liner.
Place clumps around the bulbs to cover the exposed soil and create a natural green surface. The clumps can be gently divided if you need to increase the area of coverage.
💧 Keeping Your Moss Alive
Remove the moss from its packaging promptly after delivery and allow it to breathe.
Place the moss green-side upwards onto damp soil or another suitably moist surface and spray thoroughly with water. Rainwater is strongly recommended where possible, as we find our living moss generally performs much better with rainwater than tap water.
Keep the moss moist rather than allowing it to dry completely. It prefers a cool, shady or partially shaded position with natural light but not strong direct sunlight.
Any brown areas are usually the underside of the moss that was naturally in contact with the woodland floor. Simply position the greener surface facing upwards.
🌿 Living & Completely Natural
This is genuine living woodland moss, not dried, preserved or artificial moss.
We do not sterilise or heat-treat it because doing so would kill the moss. As a result, it can contain other naturally occurring woodland material, tiny plants, seeds or small invertebrates.
If using it in a terrarium or around animals, please inspect the moss carefully before introducing it to your setup.
🌳 From Our Surrey Woodland
Our moss is gathered by hand in small quantities from suitable areas of our woodland, allowing the remaining moss to continue growing and regenerate naturally.
No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.
Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
