🐝 100g Raw English Beeswax from Our Surrey Beehives
Pure, natural beeswax harvested in small quantities from our own beehives at Hanging Wood on the North Downs in Surrey.
This is genuine apiary beeswax produced by our own bees and collected from their hives. We keep processing to a minimum, leaving you with a beautifully natural, raw and unrefined beeswax with its characteristic honeyed colour and wonderful warm beeswax aroma.
Each pack contains approximately 100g and is supplied simply in a brown kraft paper bag.
We've kept bees at Hanging Wood for over 40 years and manage our colonies using low-intervention beekeeping practices.
We do not clip our queens' wings, artificially inseminate queens or routinely replace older queens simply to maximise productivity.
We also avoid synthetic chemical Varroa treatments in our hives.
Our bees forage across our woodland, wildflower areas and the surrounding Surrey countryside, and the wax they produce naturally varies from colony to colony and throughout the seasons.
🌿 Naturally Unrefined
This is deliberately not highly refined cosmetic-looking wax.
Because we retain its natural character, you may find tiny fragments of propolis, honeycomb or other normal hive material within the wax.
Colour can also vary considerably, from golden yellow and amber through to deeper honey-brown shades, depending on the comb and colony from which it was harvested.
If your project requires more highly filtered wax, it can be gently melted and passed through suitable fine muslin or filtering material.
Beeswax is an incredibly versatile natural material and can be used for:
For cosmetic or body-care projects, always follow an appropriate tested formulation and check that all ingredients are suitable for your intended use.
Natural beeswax is particularly beautiful on wood.
It can be incorporated into homemade wood polishes and conditioning products, helping to enhance the natural grain and giving timber a traditional waxed finish.
This makes our wax a particularly nice companion product to the natural branches, carvings and other woodland timber we sell.
Because this is beeswax from real working colonies rather than an industrially standardised product, every batch can look slightly different.
Expect natural variations in:
These differences are part of the character of genuine minimally processed beeswax.
🌳 From Our Surrey Apiary
Our hives sit alongside our family-managed woodland on the North Downs in Surrey, where we also manage wildflower areas, trees and other habitat for bees and wider wildlife.
Our beeswax is harvested in small quantities as part of our own beekeeping rather than bought in from a commercial wax supplier.
From our bees. From our Surrey woodland. Naturally simple. 🐝🌿
