🌿 10 x Wild Selfheal Plants – Prunella vulgaris

A collection of 10 living Selfheal (Prunella vulgaris) plants, lifted to order from our woodland meadows on the North Downs in Surrey.

Also traditionally known as Heal-All, Selfheal is a low-growing perennial wildflower with attractive violet-purple flower spikes. It is a wonderful addition to natural lawns, wildflower areas and wildlife gardens and has a long history as a plant associated with traditional herbal practices.

You Will Receive

  • 10 x Selfheal plants
  • Supplied bare rooted
  • Typically approx. 2–4 inches during active growth
  • Lifted and packed shortly before dispatch
  • Roots packed to retain moisture during transit

🌸 Wildflower & Wildlife Plant

Selfheal is a native British wildflower that grows naturally in grassland, lawns, woodland edges and other relatively short vegetation.

Its purple flowers provide nectar for visiting bees and other pollinating insects, while its low-growing habit makes it particularly useful in more natural lawns.

Ideal For

  • Wildflower lawns
  • Wildlife and pollinator gardens
  • Meadow planting
  • Cottage gardens
  • Banks and verges
  • Natural ground cover
  • Woodland edges
  • Traditional herb gardens

🌱 Planting & Care

Remove the plants from their packaging as soon as they arrive and allow them to breathe. Soak the roots in water before planting.

Plant directly into ordinary garden soil, firm gently around the roots and water thoroughly. Keep watered as necessary while the plants become established.

Our Selfheal grows naturally in the chalk, clay and stony soils found across our land. Rich shop-bought compost is unnecessary; ordinary garden soil is generally a better match for the conditions in which our plants have been growing.

Selfheal is hardy and perennial. Its appearance varies with the season and plants may become dormant or die back during colder periods before producing fresh growth again.

🌿 Selfheal & Traditional Herbal Use

The names Selfheal and Heal-All reflect this plant's long association with traditional herbal practices and folklore. Prunella vulgaris has been known and gathered as a traditional herb for centuries.

We sell our Selfheal as a living botanical and wildflower plant and make no claims regarding the prevention, treatment or cure of medical conditions.

Please Note

Leaves, flowers or stems may wilt or become damaged during transportation. This is normal with freshly lifted wild plants. Damaged top growth can be trimmed back and healthy established roots should produce new growth after planting.

🌳 Grown at Hanging Wood

Our Selfheal grows naturally in our woodland meadows and is lifted in small quantities as part of our ongoing land and meadow management.

No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.

Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
