A collection of 10 living Common Daisy (Bellis perennis) plants, lifted to order from our woodland meadow on the North Downs in Surrey.

The familiar Common Daisy is a hardy, low-growing perennial wildflower, producing cheerful white flowers with golden-yellow centres. It is particularly well suited to wildflower lawns and short grass, where its compact growth allows it to flower amongst the surrounding grasses.

Excellent for Wildflower Lawns

Common Daisies are naturally adapted to growing in short grass and are a lovely way to introduce flowers into an existing lawn.

Once established, the plants can tolerate regular mowing. Allowing the lawn to grow a little longer between cuts will give the daisies more opportunity to flower.

The flowers are also visited by bees, hoverflies and other pollinating insects.

Planting & Care

Remove the plants from their packaging as soon as they arrive and allow them to breathe. Soak the roots in water before planting.

For planting into an existing lawn, make a small hole, loosen the surrounding soil and place the roots firmly into the ground. Press the soil gently around the plant and water thoroughly.

Our wildflowers grow naturally in the chalk, clay and stony soils found across our land. Ordinary garden soil is preferable to rich, loose shop-bought compost.

Water regularly while the roots become established and avoid mowing immediately after planting. Once established, the daisies can be mown along with the surrounding lawn and will produce fresh leaves and flowers.

🌼 Natural & Seasonal Plants

Daisies are hardy perennial plants and their appearance varies according to the season and weather. Flowering periods are not fixed, and established plants may flower over a long period when conditions are suitable.

Flowers and leaves can become wilted or damaged during transportation. This is normal for freshly lifted plants and does not mean the roots are unhealthy. Damaged top growth can be trimmed away and the plant should produce fresh growth after establishment.

🌳 Grown at Hanging Wood

Our daisies grow naturally in our meadow and are lifted in small quantities from areas managed to maintain a varied mixture of wild plants and grasses.

No pesticides or insecticides are used on our land.

Hanging Wood has been managed by our family since 1976 on the North Downs in Surrey.
